Not significant barriers, but adapting to the nuances of corporate culture and learning the intricacies of the industry were initial challenges. However, the skills and discipline I gained in the military helped me overcome these and progress steadily.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role in security?

My 24 years in the Army, rising to the rank of Squadron Sergeant Major, equipped me with leadership, discipline, and problem-solving skills essential for the security sector. As a Tank Gunner and later a leader, I honed my ability to think critically under pressure, manage teams, and operate effectively in challenging environments. These experiences have seamlessly transferred into managing mobile security operations, where quick decision-making, adaptability, and team coordination are crucial.

What do you do at work on a daily basis?

My day typically involves managing mobile teams, planning patrol routes, ensuring compliance with client and industry standards, addressing operational challenges, and maintaining open communication with both clients and staff. It’s a mix of strategic planning and on-the-ground problem-solving.

What advice would you give for someone new starting in the industry?
